Therapy Art
The Therapy Art Collection by Dr Amy Izycky brings together a series of psychology-inspired art prints created to encourage reflection, emotional connection and personal growth. Each collection explores a different aspect of the therapeutic journey, combining meaningful symbolism with contemporary photography to create artwork that is both visually striking and emotionally engaging.
Inspired by the helical design of Copenhagen’s Round Tower, this collection symbolises the constant progression and organic development of our psychological systems. It serves as a reminder that while the path forward may be uncertain, the therapeutic process respects the unfolding of the unknown.
Psychologically, our systems evolve to protect us from pain through dissociation – a protective part that can feel like being “enveloped by clouds”. This collection explores those strange yet familiar somatic sensations we experience as our systems evolve to shield us from distress.
Drawing on the work of Wilfred Bion, this collection highlights play as a foundational activity for emotional development and resilience. It captures the essential space where raw, unprocessed experiences are transformed into meaningful thoughts and deeper emotional connections.
Mirroring the “Self” in Internal Family Systems (IFS), this image evokes a sense of mindful presence and grounded stillness. It represents the calm, compassionate core within us that observes thoughts and emotions with clarity, curiosity, and non-judgment.
The striking turquoise beauty of this crater lake is a direct result of the highly acidic waters and the toxic sulfur mine at its core. This collection serves as a powerful metaphor for the therapeutic journey: our most difficult and painful inner terrains are often the very origins of our deepest resilience, meaning, and beauty.
Inspired by the symbolism that “storms always pass,” this collection captures the moment thick clouds melt away to reveal a clear horizon. It serves as a powerful reminder that even when therapy feels difficult, the “blue sky” of clarity is always waiting patiently above the clouds.
