Head In The Clouds
Psychologically our systems evolve to protect us from pain and distress. There are many forms in which we can do this and one of the strongest, most effective methods of not feeling psychological pain is dissociation. Often, a protective part in many people’s psyches that takes time to recognise, witness and then be able to put the strange yet familiar somatic sensation into words. Many people report sensations of being in the room but out the room at the same time, foggy and even at times as if being enveloped by clouds.
This image was captured at Warkworth beach in Northumberland on a cold but sunny spring day. The tide going out allowed for the head of the shadow to be captured in the reflection of the cloud.
